Who is this class for?

This class is perfect for you if you want...

  • To know how to select and edit photos for fabric collage.
  • To understand the importance of Light, Value, and Colour.
  • To understand easy pattern creation instead of relying on Other People's Patterns (OPP).
  • Step-by-step instructions for the fused appliqué technique.
  • To learn how to design your own unique piece of fabric art – how to 'do your own thing'.

This class is designed for people new to the world of fun fabric art and simple appliqué and collage, or those with some experience and a desire to learn more about this technique, and what makes a great pet portrait collage.

No prior experience with appliqué or fabric collage is required.

However...

It's recommended that you already understand the fundamentals of free motion stitching and how to set up your machine (even if you have little experience with it).

Who is this class NOT for?

This is NOT a class for people who want pre-prepared quilting patterns.

This course will teach you how to create your own patterns from photos or drawings.

This class does NOT cover the basics of setting up for free motion stitching – machine settings, needle choice, etc.

If you're a beginner at free motion stitching, an appropriate starter class for you would be Creative Machine Thread Sketching: Basic Techniques Foundation Course.

What you need...

  • A domestic sewing machine capable of doing free motion stitching.
  • Basic sewing supplies.
  • Fabric, paper-backed stabiliser, low-loft batting (explained in detail in the course).
  • A computer and home printer.

The course includes comprehensive, downloadable notes covering what you need and the collage technique.

Also required ...

A strong, stable internet connection to view the HD videos.

This is absolutely spell binding. I hope mine turns out even half as good as yours. I did a landscape a while back that is horrid but you make the process much clearer than previous lessons I studied.

— Marlene Capell

I’ve really enjoyed your course. I have learned a lot about the tonal values. I can see that I could have made better fabric choices... in a tonal sense. Thank you.
