MAKIMA™ – Multiband Saturation for Richer, Punchier Sound
Makima™ is a Patcher preset created by KYSE in collaboration with KACET and Makise Studio. This is a powerful multiband saturation tool designed to add warmth, subtle crunch, and deep, resonant low-end to your music. Originally crafted with 808s in mind, Makima brings out tight, rich harmonics that give low frequencies their weight without muddying up the mix. However, its versatility shines through when applied to a variety of instruments, from basslines and drums to synths and vocals adding life and dimension to your sound.
Makima offers two different operating modes, allowing you to switch between 2-band and 3-band saturation, letting you tailor the effect to suit different musical needs. With the ability to engage linear phase processing, you can avoid phase issues at the crossover points, ensuring that every layer of your sound is tight, clear, and harmonically rich.
The intuitive controls give you full creative freedom to shape your sound. Each of the three main frequency bands low, mid, and high, features dedicated control knobs for Drive, Sustain, and Punch.
- Drive: Dial in the perfect amount of saturation to add grit and presence.
- Sustain: Control the length of your instrument's harmonic decay, especially useful for longer sustained notes.
- Punch: Add extra "snap" and dynamic impact to your sounds for that extra bit of muscle.
In addition, the low band has a Cutoff knob to tame any unwanted higher harmonics that can sometimes muddy up the low-end saturation, allowing you to maintain clarity without sacrificing depth.
With Makima's intuitive Frequency Range Faders, you can easily adjust the specific frequency areas you want to emphasize with harmonic content, letting you find the sweet spot for each instrument in your mix.
Finally, the Output knob allows for easy gain compensation, ensuring that your saturated sound stays balanced and cohesive with the rest of your mix.
