"Prism Of Night" - Big Band Arrangement (transposed Parts & Score)
"Prism Of Night" - Big Band Arrangement/Composition by Roman Fritsch
Bill Dobbins:
"Prism of Night premiered by the Eastman Jazz Ensemble under my direction during the Rochester Xerox International Jazz Festival in June 2018. (It) opens with an upbeat, swinging theme. The entire composition is effectively orchestrated to showcase the superb musicianship of this ensemble and its individual sections. Following the main theme, the brass section initiates a sendoff to the tuneful and swinging solo spots (...) Interestingly, this piece evokes the mood and musical vocabulary of some of the repertoire of Gerry Mulligan’s Concert Jazz Band, as well as Bill Holman’s compositions for the Stan Kenton Orchestra of the early 1950s. It’s refreshing to hear music from a young jazz writer that reflects these roots."
