RBI Data & Corrosion Loop Tracker — Risk-Based Inspection Planning Tool
Organise your pressure equipment by corrosion loop, assign API 571 damage mechanisms, score risk on a 5x5 matrix, and plan inspections — all in one structured, auto-calculating Excel tool. Turn scattered equipment data into a risk-ranked, defensible inspection programme.
What it does
This tool brings the API 580/581 RBI workflow into one practical Excel workbook. Group equipment into corrosion loops, assign API 571 damage mechanisms, and score Probability of Failure (PoF) and Consequence of Failure (CoF) on a 1-5 scale. The tracker computes each item's risk score and risk level automatically, visualises the distribution on a live 5x5 matrix, calculates next-inspection-due dates, and gives you an inspection planning register linked back to the equipment list.
What's included
- Corrosion loop register (group equipment by shared conditions and damage mechanisms)
- Equipment RBI register with auto-calculated risk score, risk level, and next-due date
- Colour-coded 5x5 risk matrix with live distribution counts
- Inspection planning & findings register (auto-linked to the equipment register)
- Editable damage mechanism, material, coating, and inspection method lists
- API 580 / 581 / 571 reference sheet
- Design Basis & User Guide (PDF/Word)
- License terms
Who it's for
Integrity engineers, inspection engineers, and RBI coordinators who need a structured screening and tracking tool — to prioritise inspection effort by risk and keep a defensible record — instead of managing it across disconnected spreadsheets.
Why it saves you time
Risk score, risk level, next-due dates, and the matrix distribution all calculate automatically. Drop in your equipment, score PoF and CoF, and you have a ranked, colour-coded inspection programme in an afternoon — fully traceable for audit and review.
Standards basis
Built on the API 580 / API 581 Risk-Based Inspection methodology with API 571 damage mechanisms, using a qualitative 5x5 screening approach. This is a screening and management tracker; where a quantitative basis is required it should feed an API 581 study, not replace it. All outputs require review and approval by qualified personnel.
Format
Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). Works in Excel desktop with dropdowns, conditional formatting, and automatic calculations.
