Cinderella's Glass Slippers
Cinderella's Glass Slippers is now available!!!
Did you ever wonder why Cinderella wore slippers made of glass?
It's a weird thing to include in a story, isn't it? Broken glass can cause some pretty serious damage!
If she fell or somehow broke one of the slippers while she was walking (or dancing) in them she may not have been able to walk again afterwards!
So why would Charles Perrault, a 17th century writer of fairy tales, include that in his version of the story? Partly because it's a fairy tale, and some weirdness is expected in that type of story.
But still...the potential for Cinderella to end up with serious injuries to her feet is something to be concerned about! So it's a good thing that this is a fairy tale, and Cinderella doesn't need to schedule an appointment with a podiatrist. Instead, she has a fairy godmother helping her out (and keeping her feet safe).
And that's a good thing, because those glass slippers play a very important role in this version of Cinderella, because when you finish the book you'll be amazed at all that Perrault packs into his version of this fairy tale!
