GENERAL INFORMATION:

This is an asymmetrical triangular shawl worked from a few cast on stitches out to the broad edge. The shawl uses two very contrasting skeins of yarn and decorative mosaic (slip stitch) panels. The shawl is finished with a contrasting i-cord bind off.
The shawl is very adjustable and can be made in different weight yarns.

Yarn choice: When choosing your colours, it is VERY important to have a good contrast (light vs dark, or very different colours). The pattern is best suited to solid or semi solid colours. Resist the temptation to buy two yarns that complement each other because they share colours in common as the pattern will be quickly lost. Likewise, if you want to use a variegated yarn, make it a bold one, and the other skein a very different solid neutral shade.

MATERIALS:
Yarn: The Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK. 100% Merino Wool, 100g / 3.5oz, 240 m / 263 yds.
MC (Indigo) 2 skeins or 456 m / 500 yds.
CC (Storm Grey): 1 skein or 240 m / 263 yds.

Needles and Notions:
4.0 mm (US 6) circular main needle min 32 inches / 80 cm long, or size to obtain gauge.
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle min 32 inches / 80 cm long, or size to obtain gauge for mosaic knitting, if needed.

GAUGE:
On 4.0 mm (US 6) needles 19 sts and 37 rows to 4 inches / 10 cm in garter st after blocking.
The overall gauge is not critical, but differences will affect the final size and yarn requirements. Importantly, the number of stitches to 4 inches / 10 cm for the mosaic pattern and garter stitch should match, you may need a larger needle for the mosaic work.

SIZE:
wingspan: ~80 inches / 200 cm, depth: ~21 inches / 53 cm.
