These warm, cabled DK socks are inspired by cozy days spent indoors baking cookies, snuggling up by a fire and drinking hot chocolate, reading, or knitting. The socks feature a repetitive cable pattern, where the cables are spaced further apart for a simple and relaxing knit. The pattern includes instructions for working the cables both with and without a cable needle.

YARN: DK

YARDAGE:
Yardages are approximate. Exact yardage will depend on the yarn you use, your gauge, and any modifications you make.

185 yds - 350 yds/169 m - 320 m

NEEDLES: US 3/3.25 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
(If your gauge tends to be tight, particularly when knitting cables, I recommend going up a needle size and using US 4/3.50 mm needles.)

TOOLS: Tapestry needle, scrap yarn or stitch holder, 2 stitch markers, cable needle (optional)

GAUGE: 26 sts & 36 rows = 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch after blocking

SIZES: Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) correspond to an actual foot circumference of 7 (8, 9, 10) in/18 (20.5, 23, 25.5) cm measured around the ball of the foot.
*If your hand-knit socks tend to be snug, I recommend either going up a needle size to a US 4/3.50 mm needle or knitting one size larger than you usually do. These socks do fit a bit tighter than a traditional stockinette stitch sock because the cables wrap around the entire leg.
