Gatsby's Gold II: The Locked Pass
It's the tenth-anniversary dinner at Gatsby's Gold, Woodstock's most famous halaal kitchen. At 20:00, Stage 6 load-shedding plunges the pass into darkness. Two minutes later, chef-owner Fai Daniels takes his ritual first taste of the house Gold Sauce by torchlight. By 20:04 he's on the floor, and his adrenaline pen is nowhere to be found.
Nobody at your table knows who did it. You start with only what the first responders had: a crime scene, a lab report, a family WhatsApp group and five suspects who all had a reason. Work out a code from the evidence to open the right envelope and unlock the next packet. Wrong codes open envelopes that tell you exactly what you missed, and cost you points.
It's a proper puzzle with a properly South African sense of humour, and it's fair-play from start to finish. Every answer can be reasoned from the documents.
