Leafkerchief - a knitting pattern
Absolutely cute and a joy to knit.
It’s a super fast pattern ideal for gift knitting, to destash some fingering weight yarn or just to have fun!
Leafkerchief is a super pretty sister pattern to Leaflette.
Size
Kerchief or headband: approx. 92 cm/36.25” long and 19 cm/7. 5” wide at center.
Yarn
1 skein of Merlen by Cecily Grove Yarns (90% merino, 10% linen; 360m/394y per 100g). Shown in colorway Son of the Blue Sky.
or approx. 144m/158y of any other fingering yarn which gives you the correct gauge.
Needles
3.25 mm/US #3 circular needle (40 cm/16” long) or straight, or size needed for gauge.
Other
tapestry needle for weaving
Gauge
25 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm/4” in pattern, measured flat after wet blocking. One pattern repeat (14 sts x 16 rows) measures approx. 5.5 cm/2.25” wide by 5 cm/2” tall.
The gauge is not crucial on this project. Differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage, so I recommend adjusting the needle size as necessary. Otherwise, make sure to have more yarn on hand.
