First-Time Buyer Checklist: Free 2-Page Printable Homebuying Checklist from The Mortgage Dad (PDF)
Buying your first home? Start here. This free 2-page checklist walks you from "getting ready" to keys in hand, in plain English.
What's inside (2-page printable PDF, US Letter):
- Get ready: credit reports, monthly debts, a comfortable payment, saving for the down payment, closing costs and a cushion
- Documents lenders typically ask for, in one list
- Pre-approval and comparing offers: questions to ask and how to read your Loan Estimate
- Shopping and making an offer
- Under contract: inspection, insurance, and what NOT to do before closing
- Closing: the Closing Disclosure, wire-fraud safety, final walk-through
- After you close
- Space for your notes and questions for your lender
Two dates worth knowing (from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau): a lender must give you a Loan Estimate within three business days of receiving your application, and you should receive your Closing Disclosure at least three business days before closing.
