This Remembrance Day Poppy Art Project gives students a meaningful, hands-on way to connect with the significance of the day. Students use black watercolor paint and oil pastels to create a symbolic poppy artwork, experimenting with contrast, shading and texture.

It is a natural cross-curricular link between Social Studies and Art, and works in both classrooms and homeschool. As they create, students pay tribute to those who have served and see how art can carry a powerful message.
