Research a country's key stats - capital, population, rivers, currency name, etc, use Google maps to find how many kilometres each place is from either the main airport or the busiest airport (depends on the country), and get to spend the equilvalent of 50.00 in local currency - you can tell your students to convert 50.00 NZ or Australian using xe.com into that country's currency. Then they can research some things they could purchase using Google. Students also get to locate the place on a mini world map.
