Peder Winstrup was a bishop of Lund during a turbulent period in Scania’s history. Born in Copenhagen, he rose through the church ranks and later pledged allegiance to Sweden after the Treaty of Roskilde. He played a key role in the establishment of Lund University in 1666, helping to secure its foundation as a center of learning in the newly acquired province. A 2021 genomic analysis of his exceptionally well-preserved remains showed that his genetic profile best matched present-day northern European populations.

For this video, I gathered his raw DNA and analyzed it using my tools such as trait predictor and betacalc, and the qpadm tool developed by harvard.
