Quill Hands-Free is an add-on for A Quill. It gives your Quill ears, a voice, a face and hands, so you can use your computer by speaking, with nothing to touch.

It was designed for people who are blind or have low vision, and for people with limited or no use of their hands, including quadriplegia. It was built by a low-vision, dyslexic woman who needed it to work her own computer.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Ears. Speak naturally. When you pause, your words are sent. Your speech is turned into text on your own computer.
  • - A voice and a face. Your Quill answers out loud, with a face that moves as it speaks. Choose Quill (he) or Quillette (she).
  • - Hands. Your Quill can open files, web pages and your own shortcut buttons for you.
  • - One button. START QUILL on your desktop starts everything.
  • - A large-print READ ME.

YOU WILL NEED

  • A Quill already set up: the A Quill Starter Package, payhip.com/b/tPrn5
  • - Windows 10 or 11, the Claude desktop app, and Google Chrome
  • - A microphone. A headset works best.

PLEASE KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY

  • Getting started needs a sighted helper, for now. Someone who can see the screen and use a mouse installs it once and starts each session, which takes about a minute. After that, it is hands-free.
  • - This is a work in progress. It works with the Claude desktop app as it looks today. If Anthropic changes the app's layout, hands-free may stop working until we release a fix. We watch for changes and send out updates as quickly as we can.
  • - Claude is made by Anthropic. This add-on is independent and is not made or endorsed by Anthropic.
