The Occult Made Simple

"Abstain from every form of evil." — 1 Thessalonians 5:22

Darkness dressed as light. That is the oldest disguise in the world — and it has never been more popular. Tarot as self-care. Horoscopes as a morning ritual. Psychics, spirit guides, manifestation, and New Age energy work, all sold as harmless spirituality. The Occult Made Simple names these practices for what Scripture says they are, explains why God forbids them, and opens the door to freedom in Jesus Christ.

Across twelve chapters, Kimani Upshur, M.Ed. walks readers through God's definitive word on the occult (Deuteronomy 18:10–12), why these practices seem to work, their hidden cost in bondage and fear, and a chapter-by-chapter exposure of horoscopes, psychics and mediums, witchcraft, and the New Age menu — with clear biblical discernment for each. Then comes the way out: the Ephesian pattern of renunciation and repentance (Acts 19:19), the total authority of Jesus over every power of darkness, and the daily armor of walking in the light.

The final chapter speaks directly to the reader coming out of the occult: renounce, repent, be filled with the Holy Spirit. No how-to instructions for darkness — only the open door of Christ's freedom, a closing prayer of deliverance, and the promise that "if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).
