Le fantôme de Canterville est classé dans les livres pour enfants. Ce qu'il est d'ailleurs. Il est faussement macabre (écoutez une histoire par E. A. Poe pour mesurer la différence) plus comique qu'effrayant.

Mais il est douteux qu'un enfant puisse apprécier l'ironie, la description sarcastique de la famille américaine vue par un Anglais. C'est un livre pour enfants que tout adulte doué du sens de l'humour peut apprécier.

The Canterville Ghost is said to be a children's book. Which it is. It is falsely macabre (listen to the difference with a story by E. A. Poe!), meant to be comical rather than frightening.

But it is doubtful that any child can appreciate the irony, the sarcastic description of the American family seen by an Englishman. It's a children's book that any adult with some sense of humor can enjoy.
