Around 90% of the characters you'll meet in a modern Chinese text are in this thousand. They're ordered by frequency, so you start with the ones that actually earn their keep — which makes the poster as useful on day one as it is two years in.

This is our original product, the one the whole catalogue grew out of. Put it somewhere you'll look at it every day.

• Traditional Chinese — with zhuyin (bopomofo) and pinyin, plus English keywords
