Seeing one troubling interaction is easy.

Recognizing the system connecting multiple interactions takes a different kind of attention.

The Toxic Ecosystem: Map What You See is a guided companion workbook designed to help you apply the framework introduced in The Toxic Ecosystem. Instead of rushing to label people, this workbook helps you slow down, examine repeated behavior, and map how an environment actually functions.

Through seven structured exercises, you’ll explore:

• which patterns keep repeating across separate incidents

• who everyone appears to adjust around

• who enters conflicts, carries messages, or pressures others

• which unwritten rules govern the environment

• what happens when someone says no or steps outside an assigned role

• how information, influence, and pressure move through the system

• where you may have participated in maintaining a pattern—even when you were trying to help, protect yourself, or keep the peace

You’ll also use the 1–2–3 Observation Rule:

One time: Notice it.

Two times: Pay attention.

Three times: Look closer.

This workbook is not designed to help you diagnose people, build a case against everyone around you, or force a complicated situation into a label. It is designed to help you separate isolated incidents from repeated architecture, examine alternative explanations, and name what you see carefully.

You do not have to leave with every answer.

You may leave with better questions, clearer observations, and a fuller picture of the environment you have been trying to understand.

Recommended use: This companion workbook is best completed after or alongside The Toxic Ecosystem.
