Before You Build Guide
A steel building kit can make the shell assembly more organized, but “bolt-together” does not mean risk-free or effortless. Before committing to a project, decide whether you have the time, crew, equipment, site conditions, and construction experience to manage the work—or whether you should budget for a professional erection crew.
This guide is an early planning and decision tool. It explains the major phases and questions to resolve. It is not an erection manual, engineering document, permit set, safety plan, or substitute for the project-specific construction package supplied with an order. Do not use it to select structural members, fasteners, bracing, lifting methods, or installation dimensions.
The guide focuses on the steel building shell: preparation through an enclosed exterior shell. It briefly identifies later work such as insulation and interior finish, which involves separate scopes and often licensed trades.
