A masterclass in pilates to improve your running technique
Do you love to run, but have to take frequent breaks from running because of niggles and pains?
Have you just started running for the first time and want to make sure you're doing it right and won't cause yourself any injury?
Do you feel you're at a plateau with your running level and would love to level up and improve your gait?
Do you need to get back into exercise and want some direction and encouragement to just start?
Running is a repetitive, high impact movement. Due to this, a slight misalignment or imbalance in the body can go on to create further issues. Many runners end up with niggles or injuries that stop them from running for a period of time while their body recovers.
Pilates is an exercise form which improves muscular strength/stability, joint mobility/flexibility and core strength. It can be particularly useful for runners with it's focus on postural alignment, breathing and muscular development - helping the runner to strengthen the muscles not used so much when running and therefore lowering the risk of injuries from weak or misaligned muscle groups or imbalances in the body.
Injury prevention may be the main reason many runners choose to cross train with pilates, but did you know it can also improve your running performance?
The awareness of your body, the alignment of the spine and pelvis, and the mental fitness element to pilates all contribute to enhanced running technique which can improve your gait and help you to achieve more personal bests.

Well, put simply, I want to help you!
I'm a pilates instructor who has gotten the running bug, and I know I'm a better runner because of the strength I have in my body thanks to pilates...
A little background:
I am proud to have had 20 years experience in the performance industry; starting as a singer and dancer and continuing to study fitness for performance professionals. I've been a professional vocal coach since 2016 and fitness instructor since 2020.
Why I created this course:
I started researching pilates exercises which would help me be a better runner, and I realised there is so much expertise out there and so many ways pilates could help! So I went out there and did the work for you; I found the best exercises, read all the blogs, watched the videos and invested in training from pilates professionals and physiotherapists who work with running athletes. I put everything I learned together into this masterclass so that you don't have to do the work at finding what you need - it's all here for you.
Yes - it's not an advanced pilates class, but a masterclass about pilates exercises which will specifically work the muscles necessary for injury prevention and performance enhancement for runners. If you've never done pilates before there's no need to fear - this course is accessible for beginners, modifications will be given for more complex exercises and everybody will be able to do these exercises at home.
Absolutely! Many runners' injuries happen because they've gotten into bad habits, or put too much strain on a particular part of the body for a prolonged time. If you're a hobby runner, or just starting out, it's the perfect time to make sure you're aware of your body and keeping the right muscles strong to stabilise your trunk as you run and give you the best gait possible BEFORE any injuries occur. It's about 'prehab', rather than 'rehab'!
No, just your body and enough space at home to lie on the floor!
You can use the contact page to send me a message anytime and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. If you have questions about a lesson in particular, just comment underneath the lesson! I am always checking back to answer questions and queries and help as much as I can
