It’s September 1st and you’re ready to go! This year is going to be different! Your classroom is clean and your resources are all tidied away in their precise spots, everything has a place, your plan for week one is basically set, your lunch is carefully packed and prepared for the next 2 days, your wardrobe is clear of clutter and you’ve your week’s outfits picked out, and you’re excited to meet your new class!

- By the end of September, your skin is breaking out, your sleep is constantly interrupted by random ‘to-do’ thoughts every hour and you can’t remember the last time you actually went for a peaceful walk! Your self-care has gone out the window, you’re too tired to even care and you’ve a million things to do anyway so…it may wait til Christmas at this stage!
But what if this year, it actually WAS different?
- How would it feel to KNOW that your worth does NOT depend on how much time you spend in school or how many things you tick off your to-do list on a given day?
- How would it feel to be content with your work-life balance and to have extra time to spend with family and friends (or even -GodForbid- alone!) without feeling guilty all the time?
- How would it be to get home from work, switch off your laptop, put away your corrections and be able to go for a nice long walk because you KNOW you DESERVE it?
Burnout is caused by overwhelm, lack of boundaries and an idea that work and getting things done is more important than your own health and wellbeing.
But you DO have the power to be a teacher AND a human being at the same time! You can make a difference to your life (and the lives of everyone around you!) by putting these simple practices in place NOW.
