The Ripplette Blouse and Cardigan is a cute, effortlessly chic, semi-cropped, buttoned short-sleeve blouse and cardigan full of details, giving it a very polished finish.

Its elegant sleeves (short and long), which use compound raglan shaping, feature the Riptide stitch pattern. This stitch pattern is echoed in the front of the garment, giving it a very feminine touch

See Schematic on page 4 for more detailed measurements. Suggested fit approx. 2.5 – 10cm/ 1 – 4” positive ease. Samples shown in size 4 with approximately 6.5cm/ 2.5” of ease. Finished garment measurements are taken with relaxed fabric after blocking, so please knit and block a gauge swatch.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS:

• Needle A (gauge needle): 3.5mm/ US 4 circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge), 80-100cm/ 32-40” length, to knit the garment and sleeves.
• Needle B: 2.75mm/ US 2 circular needle, 80cm/ 32” length (or 0.75mm/ 2 US sizes smaller than gauge-size needle) for hem, placket, button band, sleeve cuffs* and neckband.
• Needle C: 3.75mm/ US 5 needle (or 0.25mm/ 1 US size larger than gauge-size needle), for I-cord bind-off. If not using Magic Loop for sleeves, then a set of double-pointed needles will be required.

Smooth waste yarn for holding live sts.

Drops, Safran, 50g (160m/175 yds, 100% cotton).

Sport weight. Sample in colour 09 – navy blue.

Long sleeve cardigan sample:

Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, Vilje, 100g (375m/410 yds, 100% Lambswool). Heavy fingering weight.

Sample in colour heathered light grey.

Please note that a 10% yarn contingency is incorporated in these quantities to allow for swatching and gauge nuances.

GAUGE

23 sts x 34 rows = 10cm x 10cm/ 4”x 4” in stocking stitch worked flat with Needle A after blocking.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES:

The Ripplette Blouse and Cardigan is worked in one piece, flat, from the top down.

Compound raglan increases shape the yoke.

The body is then worked straight to a semi-cropped length but can be lengthened (additional yarn would be required).

The short or long sleeves are then worked and finished with 1 x 1 ribbing.

The placket and button bands are then worked and are finished with an I-cord bind-off.

Finally, the neckband is worked.

A chart is provided for the Riptide stitch pattern used in the sleeves (page 3) giving a visual aid to the written instructions.
