Who are the Nogais, and what secrets do their genomes hold?

In this video, we trace the history of the Nogai people—from their origins in the Kipchak tribes and the Mongol Golden Horde of Nogai Khan to their modern presence in the North Caucasus and southern Russia.

Using advanced archaeogenetic tools like qpAdm and qpfstats on the AADR v62 dataset, we analyze the genomes of 16 ethnic Nogais from Stavropol and Astrakhan. Discover their closest genetic relatives (Siberian Tatars, Kazakhs, Uzbeks), their Bronze/Iron Age admixture models, and a deep dive into their predicted physical traits and health predispositions using my Trait Predictor.

We look at everything from eye color and hair texture to complex health risks like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular health, and mental health predispositions.
