HandoffLint — Structured Teacher Handoff Review (Python Utility)
Turn a structured teacher handoff into a list of questions to review.
HandoffLint checks a 25-field JSON handoff for missing contact/routine information, same-day AM/PM schedule issues, and limited resource or access questions. It creates local HTML and JSON advisory reports. It does not rewrite the plan or fill in missing facts.
Separate from the Teacher Handoff PDF
This is a Python source utility that accepts its own structured JSON template. It does not read or fill the separately sold Teacher Handoff PDFs. Those PDFs are not required to use HandoffLint. The optional desktop editor edits the JSON text, rather than presenting a separate form box for every field.
Start with fictional examples
Includes a blank template, a structurally clean example and an example producing four advisory warnings plus one unknown. The questions example includes an invalid clock time, unclear locked-resource access and an unverified resource location. Zero findings still means structurally checked only, never a complete or safe plan.
Requirements and delivery
Python 3.10+ source-code ZIP, tested locally on Windows with Python 3.12. No extra pip packages. Terminal workflow; optional JSON editor requires Tkinter. No Python runtime, standalone EXE or cloud subscription included. Read the first-run guide and supported JSON contract before use.
Scope and limits
All 25 fields must be present; unknown keys and invalid types are refused. Up to 256 KiB input, with field length limits and up to 100 entries per registry. Times use same-day HH:MM AM/PM ranges. Overnight schedules and general prose require human review. Resource locations and access instructions are user-supplied facts, not verified by the software. Free-text rules are experimental and may miss issues or raise false positives.
This is not a general prose interpreter, safety approval, privacy audit or classroom-effectiveness certification. It does not replace checking actual school procedures, lesson plans or resource access.
Reports contain the complete input and source hash. Keep them private and do not include passwords or confidential student records in general packets. No network calls. Existing report folders and editor save files are refused; choose fresh names. Exit 0 means a report was produced, even with warnings.
Use and modify for your internal work and authorized client files; no resale or redistribution of the supplied utility. Implementation has received scoped independent core review. No exclusive rights in the supplied elements are promised. Download/file support only; custom setup, lesson writing, PDF conversion and consulting are not included. No guaranteed response time or future updates.
All sales are final except where a refund is required by applicable law. Mandatory consumer rights remain intact.
