Power and Parallels
by Destiny Itano

A triangle shawl with a graphic, slipped stitch pattern evoking two powerful forces – maps and waterways – both of which have shaped the history of the Duwamish Territory.

This pattern was originally created as a collaboration with the Log House Museum in the Alki neighborhood of West Seattle, inspired by their exhibit, “Between the Lines: the Power and Parallels of the West Seattle Annexation.”

This pattern uses two contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn, one skein of each color. It is worked in garter stitch, with patterning created with slipped stitches and cables. The pattern includes written instructions and charts.

Skills required include:
-knitting
-picking up stitches (for garter tab only)
-YO
-slipped stitches
-cables
-make 1 increases
