The Guided KDP Publication Setup gives you personalized support through this process without giving up control of your publishing account, rights or royalties.

You will remain your own publisher. I will help you understand and complete the setup process.

HOW IT WORKS

STEP 1: COMPLETE THE INTAKE FORM

Provide your book information and upload the final files requested.

STEP 2: FILE AND INFORMATION REVIEW

I will review the submitted materials for the scheduled setup. If the files are not ready, I will identify the next service or correction required.

STEP 3: SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT

After your intake is accepted, you will receive instructions for scheduling your private 60-minute session.

STEP 4: COMPLETE THE GUIDED KDP SETUP

You will sign in to your own KDP account and share your screen. Together, we will work through the applicable setup sections.

STEP 5: ORDER AND REVIEW YOUR PROOF

You will order and pay for your own proof copy. The book should not receive final approval until the physical proof has been reviewed.

YOU RETAIN CONTROL

You will own and control:

• Your KDP account

• Your manuscript and book files

• Your ISBN

• Your publishing rights

• Your pricing decisions

• Your banking and tax information

• Your royalties

The Author Studio does not become your publisher of record or acquire ownership of your book.

Frequently Asked Questions

WILL YOU PUBLISH MY BOOK FOR ME?

No. This is a guided setup service. You will publish through an Amazon KDP account that you own and control. I will help you understand and complete the applicable setup sections, but I do not publish through my account or become your publisher of record.

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY FILES READY BEFORE I PURCHASE?

Yes. You should have a final print interior PDF, a complete full-wrap cover PDF and a final EPUB if you plan to publish a Kindle edition.

If your manuscript still needs editing, formatting or cover production, complete those services before scheduling the guided setup.

WHAT IS A FULL-WRAP COVER?

A full-wrap paperback cover is one continuous file containing the back cover, spine and front cover, with the correct bleed, safety margins and barcode area.

A front-cover image by itself is not sufficient for a custom KDP print-cover upload.

CAN YOU FIX MY FILES DURING THE SESSION?

The session includes reasonable troubleshooting of files prepared through The Author Studio’s Self-Publishing Preparation Package.

Editing, reformatting, EPUB conversion, cover reconstruction and substantial file corrections are not included. If additional production work is required, you will receive a separate quote.

DOES THE $225 INCLUDE INTERIOR FORMATTING OR EBOOK CONVERSION?

No. This service begins after the publication files are complete.

The Self-Publishing Preparation Package is available for authors who need their final manuscript converted into print-ready and ebook files.

DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE AN ISBN?

No. Amazon may provide a free KDP ISBN for eligible paperback and hardcover editions, or you may purchase and register your own ISBN.

I will explain the options, but you will obtain or select the ISBN through your own account.

DO KINDLE EBOOKS NEED AN ISBN?

Amazon KDP does not require an ISBN for a Kindle ebook. Print editions generally require an ISBN unless Amazon identifies a specific exception.

Each separately published print format or edition may require its own ISBN.

WILL YOU ENTER MY BANKING OR TAX INFORMATION?

No. You will enter all banking, tax, identity and payment information privately through your own account.

Please do not send passwords, Social Security numbers, identification documents, banking information or tax records to The Author Studio.

CAN YOU LOG INTO MY KDP ACCOUNT FOR ME?

No. During the guided appointment, you will sign in and control your account. If needed, you may share your screen so I can explain the applicable fields and choices.

DOES AMAZON ALLOW AI-GENERATED COVER ART?

Amazon requires authors to provide information about AI-generated text, images and translations during the publication process.

I can explain the questions and help you identify the information you need. You remain responsible for accurately disclosing AI-generated content, confirming commercial-use rights and ensuring that your content complies with Amazon’s current requirements.

WILL DISCLOSING AI-GENERATED ART PREVENT MY BOOK FROM BEING PUBLISHED?

Disclosure does not automatically guarantee acceptance or rejection. Amazon reviews submitted content under its current guidelines and retains authority over publication decisions.

The Author Studio cannot guarantee that Amazon will approve any particular cover, manuscript or title.

WILL WE PUBLISH THE BOOK DURING THE 60-MINUTE SESSION?

The goal is to complete as much of the setup as the project’s readiness permits. However, publication may need to wait for file corrections, ISBN issues, metadata decisions, Amazon processing or a physical proof review.

I recommend ordering and reviewing a physical proof before giving final approval.

DOES THE SERVICE INCLUDE A PHYSICAL PROOF COPY?

No. You will order and pay for the proof through your own KDP and Amazon accounts. Proof pricing, shipping and taxes are third-party expenses.

WILL YOU REVIEW THE PHYSICAL PROOF?

One proof review is included in The Author Studio’s Self-Publishing Preparation Package.

If your files were prepared elsewhere, physical-proof review can be added separately.

HOW LONG DOES AMAZON TAKE TO APPROVE THE BOOK?

Amazon controls its review and processing times, and those times can change. The Author Studio cannot guarantee an approval or publication date.

Your overall timeline also depends on file readiness, ISBN accuracy, proof ordering, shipping and any corrections identified after review.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE THAT AMAZON WILL ACCEPT MY BOOK?

No. Amazon retains final authority to accept, reject, distribute, price or remove content submitted through its platform.

I will help you understand the process and identify apparent setup issues, but no publishing professional can guarantee platform approval.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE SALES OR ROYALTIES?

No. This service does not guarantee sales, rankings, reviews, distribution, royalties or other commercial outcomes.

CAN I SELL THE BOOK THROUGH MY WEBSITE AFTER PUBLISHING ON AMAZON?

Yes. You may link your website to the Amazon product page or order author copies and sell those copies directly.

Website development, Shopify setup, inventory management, fulfillment and customer shipping are separate services.

CAN I SELL MY EBOOK THROUGH MY WEBSITE?

Generally, you may sell the ebook through other channels unless you enroll the digital edition in an exclusivity program such as KDP Select.

You are responsible for reviewing and complying with the current terms of any optional distribution program you select.

DOES THIS INCLUDE SHOPIFY SETUP?

No. Shopify product setup, website design, payment processing, shipping configuration and ecommerce fulfillment are separate from this service.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PROJECT ISN’T READY?

If the intake review shows that your manuscript or production files are not ready, I will identify the missing work and recommend the appropriate next step.

Depending on the issue, you may need editing, interior formatting, EPUB conversion, cover production or a Publishing-Readiness Assessment before scheduling.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT THE INTAKE FORM?

I will review your responses and files. If your project is appropriate for this service, you will be approved to enroll and receive instructions for scheduling your guided appointment.

If the project requires additional preparation, I will explain what must be completed first.

IS THE $225 FEE REFUNDABLE?

Because this service reserves professional review and appointment time, payments are nonrefundable once file review or appointment preparation has begun.

If you need to reschedule, provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Missed appointments or late cancellations may require a rescheduling fee.

WHAT IF WE NEED MORE THAN 60 MINUTES?

Additional consultation time may be purchased separately. Work requiring file editing, formatting, cover reconstruction or additional editions will be quoted separately.
