This is a top-down shawl in a half-circle shape. It starts at the neck edge with a series of short-row wedges which form a half circle. Stitches are picked up around this base and the shawl continues out and down, with scattering of cats' paw lace throughout the shawl.

The pattern is written line by line to preserve the mystery of when and where Pyewacket appears. Pyewacket being the cat in the classic movie “Bell, Book and Candle”, starring James Stewart and Kim Novack, who infamously makes his presence known by leaving telltale pawprints on things.
