In this Winter Cardinal Art Lesson, students create a cardinal inspired by winter using construction paper, oil pastel marks and tempera paint. It is a mixed media art project designed for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade.

The lesson is fully planned for you. Along with the step-by-step tutorial, you get a lesson hook, assessment, rubric, reflections and a themed reading that gives students background knowledge before they create. When the artwork is finished, the display sign and artist statement templates make it easy to put up a hallway display.
