The RRSP Book — Digital Edition (PDF) · 2026 Tax Year
The day you die, the CRA treats your RRSP as cashed out. This is what that costs, worked out on your own numbers.
The complete 138-page workbook as a PDF, page for page identical to the paperback. Read it on a phone, a tablet or a laptop, and print the worksheet pages you want to write on. Your copy is watermarked to you, and downloads immediately after purchase.
Canada has no inheritance tax. What it has instead is a final return on which every dollar still inside your RRSP, RRIF or locked-in account is treated as received in one year — unless it passes to a spouse or partner in one of the ways the Income Tax Act allows. The RRSP Book states, one account to a page, exactly what the Act and the CRA do to each kind of registered account when its owner dies, and then hands you the worksheet to see what that means for your family.
• The rules, one section each: RRSP · RRIF · TFSA · LIRA and LIF · RESP · RDSP · FHSA · non-registered property and the principal residence · probate in all thirteen jurisdictions · charitable gifts at death · Quebec on its own page. Every rule is quoted from the CRA guide or the statute that carries it, with the date it was read printed at the foot of the page.
• The 2026 tax ladder for every province and territory — two lookups give the tax on any number, no calculator, no software.
• The worksheets: twelve account spreads, “If I died this year” for each spouse, “The second death” for the survivor, the TFSA successor-holder check, the designation audit, the executor handoff — and a worked example, a Kingston couple through both deaths, so every page can be checked against a completed one.
• It does not tell you what to do. It shows what the rules do, and gives you the page to see the number in your own handwriting, before anyone has to guess.
• 2026 Tax Year Edition. Every figure is the 2026 figure, read from the issuing source on a printed date. The figures move every January; the code printed in the book opens the year’s figures page at estatecanada.ca and a dated record of anything that changed after the edition closed.
8.5 × 11 · 139 pages including the cover · bookmarked by page code · room to write.
