Strange Fruit: Black Survival, Spiritual Awakening, and the Danger of Becoming Numb

How many tragedies can we witness before we stop feeling their weight?

In Strange Fruit, Karen Jackson examines the haunting connection between America’s history of racial violence and the troubling realities Black Americans continue to face today. Through personal reflection, historical observation, and biblical truth, she confronts lynching, unexplained deaths, historical erasure, population decline, and the gradual desensitization that can cause a people to overlook the warning signs around them.

Drawing upon Genesis, Psalms, Hebrews, Revelation, and the prophetic imagery of 1 Enoch, this deeply personal essay is both a lament and a call to spiritual awareness.

This is not a call to live in fear. It is a call to remember, to remain watchful, and to walk wisely—before the cries of the past become the reality of another generation.
