Hello. I'm Barbra.

I’m an artist based in Santa Cruz, California with my surfer husband, Mike. 

We live only blocks from the sea, with the majesty of whales, palm trees and sea birds all around. Santa Cruz is a huge inspiration to me. 

I enjoy playing with color, laying brush strokes next to each other to see how they interact. When I paint, I go into a peaceful zone. Often, while I'm waiting for paint to dry between layers, I'll dance to stay loose and in pleasure mode.

My art reflects a desire to be bold and be brave. I believe that art (and life!) is about letting go and not being perfect -- it's about finding balance. I'm known for my loose, painterly style that evokes playfulness and humanness.

My work has been featured in Anthropologie, Bloomingdales and shops world-wide. From swimwear to bedding to fabric to home decor, my art covers just about everything. I'm the owner of the eponymous brand, BARBARIAN®.
