I've always believed that magic isn't something locked away in dusty old books or hidden in far-off lands. It's here, tucked into the edges of our everyday lives. Sometimes it's as simple as the way sunlight catches the raindrops on a spider's web after a sun-shower or how a half-forgotten dream lingers just long enough to make you wonder if it was sent for inspiration.πͺ
When I create I'm not just writing vague prompts and hoping for the best, I'm trying to craft the vision I have in my head into words. The shimmer of a possibility. The whisper that there's more to the world than we can see.π
Over time, I've noticed certain symbols keep finding their way into my work, sometimes prompted, sometimes not, that's the magic. Things like antique jewellery for example, are not just for decoration - it's a nod to the past, a reminder that stories don't fade just because time passes. Flowers are another constant. Even when they're wilted and darkened, they speak of transformation - that beauty can exist in every stage of life. And wings, whether they be on an angel, a fairy or a butterfly ... they're freedom, hope and sometimes courage to leave things behind that are no longer working for you.
And then there are the feathers. I have them everywhere at home - on shelves, in bowls, tucked into books. Some are soft and delicate, some are bold and striking, most have been left by the birds in my garden, but all of them feel like tiny gifts left just for me from the universe. To me, feathers are messages. They carry whispers from the spirit world, reminders that we're supported and guided even when we can't see who's watching over us. In my images they drift in like blessings, adding their magic to the scene. πͺΆ
I think we all have our own personal symbols, even if we don't call them that. The trick is paying attention. Once you start noticing them - in your dreams, in the books you're drawn to, in the objects you keep close - you start to see how your own kind of magic weaves itself through your life.β¨
So may be that's my real inspiration. Not just myths and fantasy worlds but the everyday magic hiding in plain sight. My job as an artist is simply to open the door and invite you in.πͺ
And now I'd love to hear from you - what symbols or small wonders keep appearing in your life? Feathers, coins, flowers, certain colours? Share them with me and maybe, just maybe we can start weaving all our magic together.π©·
Much love and magic, Lisa β¨πͺπΈπ
