The Mourning - A fallen angel art collection by blue avalon
"they came in silence, wearing sorrow like a crown"
The Mourning is a hauntingly beautiful collection of eight fallen angels — each one cloaked in grief, mystery, and dark grace. Their wings are tattered, their faces still. They weep black tears. They wear dead flowers and antique jewelry. And yet, they remain powerful. Intact. Sacred.
This series explores themes of:
• Loss and Transformation
• Sacred Femininity
• Decay as Beauty
• Stillness as Survival
🟣 The Eight Angels
Each angel is part of a greater whole — sisters, perhaps, or echoes of a single soul fractured by grief.
• Angel I – Forward-facing, crowned in dead roses
• Angel II – Eyes closed, tinged with red and antique jewellery
• Angel III – Distant, downward gaze, corset and drifting feathers
• Angel IV – Head tilted, dead flowers, black tears like ink
• Angel V – Reclining, one hand on chest, draped in tulle and silence
• Angel VI – Arms crossed, circlet of flowers, black and grey wings
• Angel VII – Mouth slightly open, black stains across skin and hands
• Angel VIII – Closed eyes, antique jewels, marked by sorrow
Each one carries a different posture, a different weight. Together, they form a collective ritual of mourning — for what was lost, for who they were, and for who they’ve become.
🖤 The Vision Behind the Collection
The Mourning came to life slowly — a whisper of an idea that grew into eight haunted portraits.
They are not meant to be beautiful in the usual sense. They are meant to be truthful.
They show how grief marks us, but doesn’t erase us.
Their vintage adornments, lace, feathers, and tulle recall another time — but their pain is timeless.
They are broken and divine. Fragile, and still standing.
