How to Organize a Job Search in 14 Days

A job search moves faster when every action has a next step. Sending applications without tracking the role, contact, and follow up date can leave strong opportunities sitting untouched. Here is a simple 14 day structure you can start today.

Days 1 to 3: Choose your target. Pick two job titles that match your experience. Set your pay and location boundaries, identify companies you would genuinely join, and build one master resume. For each promising role, adjust the top third of your resume to show relevant skills and results truthfully.

Days 4 to 6: Build a focused pipeline. Apply to a few strong matches and track the company, role, date, contact, stage, next action, and next date. Prepare six short interview stories: a measurable win, a difficult problem, influence, a miss and lesson, conflict, and an improvement you led. Keep each story focused on context, your action, and the result.

Day 7: Review the signal. Which roles are responding? Which parts of your resume or outreach are unclear? Drop weak matches and improve the strongest applications.

Days 8 to 13: Repeat and follow through. Tailor additional applications, reach out professionally to relevant recruiters or hiring managers, practice answers aloud, and prepare a compensation range before an offer conversation. After an interview, send a specific thank you within 24 hours.

Day 14: Audit the pipeline. Every open opportunity should have a next action and a date. If it does not, decide whether to follow up or close it.
