Today is the day! I've updated all the files available, including some cover updates and some long overdue price increases.
File Updates
- Finally added some notes about the use of genAI into the copyright pages. tl;dr: I don't use it and you're not allowed to upload any of them to genAI slop generators like chatGPT.
Cover Updates
Glittery covers for Sea Foam and Silence (golden mermaid) and The Ice Princess's Fair Illusion (silver bird) from the Fairy Tale Verses series of verse novels.
- Redesigned Fairy Tale Verses. I'm tired of people assuming covers created with Photoshop Actions before genAI were even a thing are made with genAI. Also, I did need a more universal design for the series, even though they're all standalones. Plus! Sea Foam and Silence's cover, much as I love it, is almost a decade old. An update isn't a bad thing. The covers are fresh, pretty cute and still not made with genAI slop, and they match.
- Updated covers are: Sea Foam and Silence: The Complete Edition and The Ice Princess's Fair Illusion. (Also the individual releases of Sea Foam and Silence and A Harmony of Water and Weald.)
- Print covers for these books (not available here) currently remain the same as I'm still working through the update proces for them. Expect these to be updated in the near future.
Pricing Updates
- I don't think I've updated my prices since... huh, 2015? I don't do this very often and I won't bore anyone with the economic reasons why prices rise with inflation. We all know what the world is like at the moment and how precious our resources are. What I will note is that Amazon ensured prices for ebooks have been and still are stuck at around $2.99 for a full novel -- That's about $1.78 in royalties if sold through D2D -- and traditional publishing has definitely increased its ebook prices. Sometimes to as much as $25 for an ebook release! And so, because I value my work, I've made the heavy decision of increasing the prices (somewhat).
- Most books have gone up by about $1 because I do want people to be able to afford them.
- Verse novels and shorter novels (40k-80k) have gone up by $2 to bring them in line with the full novel releases.
- Print book pricing (not available here) for these books (not available here) currently remains the same as I'm still working through the update proces for them. Expect these to be updated in the near future.
