What God Is Saying in the Waiting | Jeremiah 29:1–14

Today, we’re diving into Jeremiah 29:1–14 (NLT)—and it’s not just a message of comfort, but of strategy, surrender, and deep, hope-filled truth. God isn't absent in your waiting. He’s present—and He’s speaking.
Let’s unpack this together.
📖 The Context: Exile, Not Abandonment
Jeremiah writes to God’s people—exiled from Jerusalem, taken to Babylon. It was unfamiliar, uncomfortable, and far from the promise.
But here’s what God says:
“Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens… Work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you…” (vv. 5–7 NLT)
That’s wild, right? God doesn't say “escape.” He says, build.
Your waiting season isn’t punishment—it’s planting.
🛑 Don’t Settle for False Hope
In verses 8–9, God warns His people:
“Do not let your prophets and fortune-tellers trick you… They are telling you lies in my name.”
Not everything that feels good is from God.
Truth > temporary relief. Always.
🌱 The Promise Still Stands
“You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come… For I know the plans I have for you… to give you a future and a hope.” (vv. 10–11)
Even the delay is part of your development.
Even when it hurts, you are being held.
🙏 He’s Drawing You Closer
“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (vv. 12–14)
This waiting isn’t just about what’s coming—it’s about who you're becoming.
Seek Him. Right here. Right now. He is not far.
