Today is Good Friday.
But you might be wondering—what’s so “good” about a day marked by suffering, bloodshed, and death?
It’s good not because of what Jesus endured…
But because of why He endured it.
The Day Love Was Poured Out
Good Friday is the day we remember Jesus—the perfect, sinless Son of God—being mocked, beaten, and crucified.
“So they took Jesus away. Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull. There they nailed him to the cross…”
— John 19:16–18 (NLT)
Imagine that moment.
Jesus, carrying the heavy weight of wood… but more than that, carrying the weight of every sin—mine and yours.
He didn’t deserve it.
But He chose it.
Why?
Because love demanded a sacrifice.
Because justice required payment.
Because God wanted you back.
Why the Cross Was Necessary
“But He was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.”
— Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
Every stripe on His back...
Every thorn in His brow…
Every agonizing breath…
Was endured for you.
Good Friday is not just a historical event—it's the personal declaration of how far God's love would go to redeem you.
What Happened on the Cross
“It was now about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land… Then Jesus shouted, ‘Father, I entrust my spirit into Your hands!’ And with those words, He breathed His last.”
— Luke 23:44–46 (NLT)
At that very moment:
- The veil of the temple tore in two.
- The ground shook.
- And the price of sin was forever paid.
Jesus didn’t say, “I am finished.”
He said, “It is finished.” (John 19:30)
The mission was complete.
The curse was broken.
The bridge back to God was built.
What It Means for You Today
So… what does Good Friday mean for you and me?
💔 You don’t have to carry guilt anymore.
💝 You don’t have to prove your worth to be loved.
🙌 You don’t have to earn your way to God.
Jesus already did it all.
Maybe you’ve felt far from God lately…
Maybe you’ve wondered if you’re really forgiven…
Or maybe you’ve just forgotten how deep His love runs.
Today is the day to come back.
To pause.
To reflect.
To remember what Jesus did… and why it still changes everything.
