“What if the voice you’ve been ignoring is the very voice that can change not just your life, but the lives of others?”

Last night, I watched a powerful biography on Netflix about Harriet Tubman, a woman who escaped slavery and then chose to go back… again and again… to lead others to freedom.
And honestly, I couldn’t stop thinking about this:
How did she do it?
Not just the courage.
Not just the strength.
But the clarity.
Because Harriet Tubman didn’t just act out of bravery, she moved because she heard God.
A Woman Who Heard God Clearly
Harriet Tubman often spoke about how God guided her.
She would pause. Pray. Listen.
And then move, even when it didn’t make sense.
She followed God’s voice through dangerous forests, unfamiliar paths, and life-threatening risks.
And because of her obedience,
hundreds of slaves found freedom.
Let that sink in.
Her obedience didn’t just change her story,
it changed other people’s lives.
Then vs Now: We Have Freedom… But Are We Listening?
Here’s the question that challenged me deeply:
Back then, life was extremely hard, painful, and restricted.
Today, many of us have freedom, access, and opportunity.
• We can read the Bible anytime
• We can pray anytime
• We can share the Gospel freely
• We can start something, speak up, create, lead
And yet…
Why is it still so easy for us to complain, delay, or stay distracted?
Sometimes, the issue isn’t lack of opportunity.
It’s lack of focus.
What Is God Asking You to Do?
Harriet Tubman didn’t wait until she felt ready.
She didn’t say:
• “Maybe next year”
• “I’m still healing”
• “What if I fail?”
She moved when God spoke.
And I believe this is where many of us are right now.
God is already nudging you:
• To start that ministry
• To speak truth boldly
• To share your testimony
• To lead your family with faith
• To step into your calling
But distractions are louder than direction.
Remove the Noise, Hear His Voice
If we want to walk in purpose, we need to learn this:
God still speaks. The question is, are we listening?
Maybe it’s time to:
• Turn down the noise (social media, comparison, fear)
• Spend intentional time with God
• Obey even when it’s uncomfortable
• Trust even when it’s unclear
Because clarity doesn’t always come before obedience.
Sometimes, clarity comes through obedience.
Your Obedience Has Impact
You may think your steps are small.
But your obedience could be someone else’s breakthrough.
• One post could encourage a struggling woman
• One prayer could shift your family
• One “yes” could open doors you never imagined
Harriet Tubman didn’t know the full picture
but she trusted the One who did.
A Prayer for Today
Lord,
Teach me to hear Your voice clearly.
Remove every distraction that pulls me away from You.
Give me the courage to obey, even when it’s hard, even when it’s scary.
Use my life for Your glory and for the good of others.
Like Harriet, let my obedience lead others to freedom.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Thoughts
We may not be called to walk through physical chains like Harriet Tubman
but many people today are still bound by fear, anxiety, sin, and hopelessness.
And God is still looking for women who will say:
“Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
