Our Top Homeschool Furniture Picks

When we embarked on our homeschooling journey,I didn't give much thought to the furniture we needed. I kind of just grabbed stuff as we went, whenever we felt the need. The funny thing is, I ended up having to switch out some furniture because it wasn't as space-saving or useful as I hoped. You know how it goes – a bunch of reasons!

So, what I want to share are the homeschooling furniture pieces that really came through for us. They tackled specific needs my kids had, saved us some space, and were like multitasking champs.

Ready to dive in? Let's do this!

For Toddlers and Preschoolers:

I still have a preschooler, Little Explorer, and I got him furniture that helps promote independence and self direction. I tried to create a space where he can explore freely and safely.

Montessori Bookshelf

This Montessori bookshelf is a fantastic addition to our homeschooling space. It features low, open shelves that allow Little Explorer to easily access and return books independently. This promotes his sense of autonomy and encourages a love for reading. It is sturdy and can hold a variety of books.

Cubby Hole

A cubby hole or cubby storage system is a game-changer. You can use it for keeping supplies and materials organized or a display of toys to encourage hands-on activities. Having a designated space for Little Explroer's blocks, toys, and learning materials can make cleanup time a breeze. You can also use labeled bins or baskets to categorize items, and let your children participate in putting things away. It's a fantastic way to teach them responsibility and keep your homeschool area clutter-free. This furniture offers a lot of possibilities.

Multifunctional table | Homeschool FurnitureMultifunctional Homeschool TableMultifunction Kids Table | Homeschool Furniture

Investing in this multifunctional table was a wise choice for homeschooling toddlers and preschoolers like Little Explorer. We can do a lot of activities such as building blocks, arts and crafts, and even as a whiteboard table for drawing and practicing writing skills. We also use it for his snack time. Versatility is key when it comes to furniture for this age group, as their interests and activities change frequently. Got this at The Hungry Hippo Ph (not sure if it's still available).

For Gradeschoolers:

Foldable Table | Homeschool Furniture

As our children grow, their furniture needs will change. A foldable table with adjustable height is an excellent investment for gradeschoolers. It offers a sturdy surface for various activities such as studying, arts and crafts, and science experiments. The adjustable height feature ensures that the table can accommodate my child's growth over the years. Plus, it's easy to clean, making it perfect for messy arts and crafts projects.

Sliding Bookshelf | Homeschool Furniture for Kids

My daughter, Miss Eager Beaver, has a growing collection of books, textbooks, and educational resources. A sliding bookshelf is an excellent solution for organizing her materials while saving valuable space in our homeschool area. The sliding mechanism allows easy access to books, and it can also serve as a display area for new and unexplored books.

Since I can't contain myself to the basics, 🤭 there are nice-to-haves that can spruce up your homeschool space that I would like to share.

Peg Board | Homeschool Supplies

Pegboards for Art Display and More:

Pegboards offer endless possibilities from displaying my daughter's artworks to organizing supplies. You can attach clips or clothespins to display your child's masterpieces, creating an ever-changing gallery of their creativity.

Wallpaper Map | Homeschool Decor

Wallpaper Map:

Transform a wall into an interactive learning tool with a wallpaper map. A large, colorful world map can spark curiosity and serve as a visual aid during geography lessons. Your child can explore different continents, countries, and landmarks, fostering a sense of global awareness and understanding. It also acts as a constant reference point during discussions, encouraging active learning.

Nature posters can offer numerous benefits as homeschool decor. They provide a visually engaging and calming environment, promoting focus and reducing stress for students. They also serve as educational tools, sparking curiosity and discussions about the natural world's diverse ecosystems, species, and phenomena. Math charts, grammar rules, or historical timelines are just a few examples of educational posters that can turn learning into an enjoyable adventure. When your child needs a quick reminder or visual cue, these posters will be there to support their understanding and boost their confidence.

Growth Mindset Posters | Homeschool Decor

Growth Mindset Posters: Nurturing Minds, Cultivating Growth

Growth mindset posters serve as valuable homeschool decor by fostering a positive and adaptable learning environment. These visuals encourage students to embrace challenges, persist through setbacks, and view effort as a path to improvement. By promoting the belief that abilities can be developed through dedication and learning, these posters inspire resilience, self-motivation, and a love for learning, ultimately enhancing students' academic and personal growth within the homeschool setting.

Lantern | Homeschool Decor

Lanterns: Create a Warm and Cozy Ambiance

Lanterns are not only beautiful decorative pieces but also have the power to create a warm and cozy ambiance in your homeschooling space. Opt for fairy lights or battery-operated lanterns to avoid any safety concerns. Hang them around bookshelves, study corners, or in the reading nook to create a magical atmosphere. The soft glow of lanterns can set the mood for quiet reading time or add a touch of enchantment during storytelling sessions. It's a simple way to make your homeschool space feel extra special.

Non Slip Floor Mat | Homeschool Decor

A few of my mom friends saw this non-slip, long cotton mat (or rug) and they're just as enamored by its flexibility, effortlessly moving from our homeschool area to the kitchen, and can also be used as a sofa cover — truly versatile for any part of the house. My Little Explroer loves to sprawl out on it. 😅 Here's a neat idea to make your homeschool room or any part of your 🏠 feel cozy and welcoming.
