What people are saying

"My journey of understanding how my upbringing and life experiences have shaped my current mental paradigms was completely eye-opening!

Growing up, I faced various challenges that influenced my perspective on life. For instance, learning to navigate difficult situations has made me resilient, but it also made me cautious and sometimes fearful of taking risks.

Recognizing these patterns has been helpful in setting new intentions for my future. I now aim to embrace opportunities for growth and change, rather than shying away from them."

Shantel Gadziawor – Ho, Ghana

"Learning about Escapism enabled me to reflect deeply. I realized I have been avoiding confronting myself and what my life had become for the past three (3) years. I had been stuck in a routine and spent most of my time on social media as a way of escaping my reality.

After the session with Ms. Veronica I decided to limit the time I spend on non-value adding activities. No more long phone calls, commenting on everything and aimless scrolling on social media. I went ahead to mute gossip pages and groups on Facebook. I unfollowed most people/pages on my Instagram."

Caroline Nkausu – Ndola, Zambia

"I have learned what is most important to me, learning to reconnect with God, practice self care, to time block moments to spend with my family, my friends and I learned to pause often to recognize my negative thoughts and address them.I am learning to make time to reflect on my life's intentions and whether I am following through.

I did well by digging deep into my life, emotions, paradigms ( was very hard but I did it). I have come to learn that I can choose myself and not define myself from the life I have already lived. I have learned to be intentional on hyping myself and redefining my growth process."

Lesetse Dhlula – Palapye, Botswana

"Only upon actually sitting down to identify my mental paradigms, I realized that past hurt and experiences lived rent free in my mind, on repeat. Learning that I can actually flip them around and create new beliefs was such a gift. The exercises helped shift my mind and see myself from a renewed perspective. Allowing me to show up differently, more myself, at my fullest potential. "

— Katlego Caroline Tsimamma – Gaborone, Botswana

"Project Rise helps you dive into the part of you, you never paid attention to previously. And that part that was too scary to reveal.

You learn to embrace yourself at your most vulnerable point, give yourself grace, have all the questions of ‘HOWs’ answered and a strong will to live your best. You try and persevere until you prevail, externally encouraged or not. "

— Georgina Afful – Accra, Ghana

"During my journey I came to realize that most of my limiting beliefs are as a result of past experiences and situations that I allowed to get embedded in me. I let past experiences define who I was and what I was capable of doing and that greatly affected how I went about my life.

Some key limiting beliefs I unearthed were:

1.Fear of failure; to me failing at something meant the end of it. It was only when I got on the Project Rise that I learnt that failure was in fact an unavoidable part of success.

2.Self doubt; I always felt like I was not enough to take up certain spaces.

3.Inability to prioritize myself and thinking I didn’t have enough resources (time, energy, money) for my personal growth."

— Stella Mwaba – Lusaka, Zambia

"The project has really helped me in shifting certain mental paradigms that originated from my upbringing. Some of them which hindered me from reaching my full potential. I am now aware of the influence that mental paradigms have on a person’s life.

1. There has been progress in terms of making peace and healing from some of my life experiences all thanks to the 30- day challenge.

2. I have been able to reflect and set new goals and intentions for my future. "

— Warona Solomon – Gaborone, Botswana
