Yau Ma Tei, located in the heart of Kowloon, Hong Kong, is one of the city’s oldest and most vibrant districts. Its name translates to "oil and sesame field," reflecting its origins as a fishing village and agricultural area. In the late 19th century, the district began to urbanize, becoming a bustling hub of trade and commerce.
Today, this district is one of my favorite spots for urban photography. Every person, every worker, tells a unique story through their daily lives. What captivates me most about Hong Kong—and Asia as a whole—is the vibrant street life. Unlike in Europe, where people tend to simply move from place to place, here the streets are alive with people working, creating, and living, turning every moment into a scene full of energy and character.
