Chapter 2.

The horse in the tree

I saw a horse in the tree at my work place! No, it was not a real horse, but a piece of danger tape from building construction that blew into the tree and formed the outline of a horse’s head and torso. By some miracle it stayed lodged in the tree, draped around the branches as a piece of unintentional art and beauty.

No human artist made it, but it was created by the real artist: God. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think that this was a masterpiece. Other people could have seen it as junk blown into a tree that needed to be removed. They might not have seen the horse or its beauty. When viewing the horse from a different angle, you might not get the whole picture and could have interpreted it differently.

How often do we draw our own conclusions about matters and situations? Only by having a closer look from a different viewpoint we may get a different and better perspective. When we see the bigger picture, we can share it with others to benefit them too.

The horse in the tree is like a rare opportunity that you don’t come across every day… Horses are not normally found in trees, but more likely in the shade of trees when they rest. I think we should enrich our lives to try to find the beauty in simple and ordinary things. We should then share it with others to also enrich their lives.

Many opportunities pass us by every day by being focused on major things. We are maybe missing out on the minor but equally important things that can benefit our lives and that of others.
