Hello, I'm Tabatha - lifelong learner and the person behind Modern Academia. I've always been drawn to the feeling of discovering something new: finding a book that opens up an entirely new area of interest, following a question down a rabbit hole, or realising that a subject you thought you knew has so much more to reveal.

Modern Academia grew out of that love of learning and my desire to make independent study more accessible, structured and rewarding - beyond formal education. With a background in English Literature and a passion for humanities research, I created Modern Academia to help people explore the subjects they're curious about, develop their own ideas and build an intellectual life that extends far beyond the classroom.

Over on substack, you'll find thoughtfully designed study resources, practical research tools and curated humanities curricula to help you learn with greater depth and confidence - whether you're returning to education, studying independently for the first time or simply following a curiosity you've had for years.
