We sat down with the creator of the FTT to discuss the creation of the FTT and how star's last article was an influence on it.
Q: Why is the Fictional Tech Times (FTT) here?
It's just personal interest. I also though that now that oNews was really the only news source, reopening up the doors a new way was the best for me and for the community.
Q: Is this a revival of FTAN? And if so, how is it better than FTAN?
It totally is! However, we will bring professional reports with no biases or opinions with images attached to the tweets we make, so it's easier and better to get what we're saying without reading a dictionary and asking on Quora.
Q: How will the FTT be distinguished from other news companies?
We have a strong branding commitment that enriches the experiences of both us and the user. We take clues from the NYT's branding in our logo and banner, with elements of it spread throughout what we call "poster images". Poster images are gonna be the main differentiator from other news accounts as they serve as the leading image. They were very inspired by TIME, I can assure that.
Q: What will your main focus be - reporting news or investigative journalism?
Our main focus will always be news, but if we do get time to make something like documentaries and full-length news reports, we're definitely gonna do it.
Q: What was a big factor in the creation of FTT?
Definitely my branding stuff at the time. Though, the 2nd most important was just, yet again, personal interest and lack of news accounts.
Q: Lastly, were there any obstacles in the creation of FTT? How did it affect the process, and how did you overcome it?
A lot. Time delays: we were expected to launch on the 1st of July. Personal compromises happened and we kept delaying it, delaying it until we arrived on the date of 30 of August. Controversy: while I was planning FTT, company chats were leaked, friendships ruined, hell even taking away a hobbie from a coworker all happened. It was difficult and meant I had to waste more time on those things, trying to glue up the broken glass that was dropped from a plane 542ft up from the air. Thankfully, I overcame those obstacles quickly, switching my lane from some real (and worrying!) stuff to a more relaxed environment which we call the FTU.
Thanks for having me on this interview!
