Why I Started Choosing My Wine Like I Choose My Perfume.

I was standing in front of my bathroom mirror last week, choosing between my everyday scent and something more intentional for dinner.

That’s when it hit me.

I put more thought into my perfume choice than my wine choice.

Here I am, someone who researches everything:

  • Skincare ingredients.
  • Coffee beans.
  • Workout gear.

But wine? I was still grabbing whatever looked pretty.

And it felt wrong.

Because both perfume and wine do the same thing—

They create an experience.

They’re invisible signatures that linger after you leave.

The difference?

  • Perfume works on you.
  • Wine works through you.

When I choose my signature scent, I’m thinking about energy:

  • Light and fresh for meetings.
  • Something deeper for evenings.
  • A comfort scent for grounding.

Wine should be the same.

That night, I stood in front of my wine collection like I stand in front of my perfume tray.

And I asked myself:

What energy do I want?

I chose a Pinot Noir.

Not because it was expensive.

But because it felt like the wine version of my favorite evening perfume—

Complex, but approachable.

And something shifted.

The wine didn’t just taste different.

The entire evening felt different.

More intentional. More me.

Since then, I’ve been paying attention.

  • Crisp Sauvignon Blanc on Sunday mornings feels like my fresh, clean perfume.
  • Bold Cabernet at work dinners feels like my statement fragrance.

I’d been treating wine like a beverage—

When it’s actually an accessory.

Think about the women you admire most.

The ones with effortless sophistication.

They’re not just wearing the right perfume.

They’re choosing the right wine.

Because they understand both are forms of self-expression.

  • Your perfume announces your arrival.
  • Your wine defines your presence.

Now, when I get ready for an evening, I choose my wine with the same intention I choose my perfume:

✨ With awareness of the energy I want to create.

✨ With the understanding that this choice shapes how others experience me.

Because we’re always creating an experience.

The only question is—

Are we doing it intentionally, or by accident?

It’s a small shift, but it feels significant.

Like the difference between getting dressed… and creating a look.

Between having a drink… and crafting an experience.

Between existing in a moment… and authoring it.

Some evenings, I still grab whatever’s closest.

But more often, I pause.

I consider.

I choose with the same care I bring to every other aspect of how I show up.

Both deserve thoughtful consideration.

Both are part of the signature you leave on the world.
