Today, we announced the X2 chip, beginning our start on the next generation of Orange Silicon for our computers. X2 has been designed to take everything about X1 and turn it up to the power of two.
X2 features a new 8 core CPU and 8 core GPU. The faster CPU allows for up to 17% faster performance compared to X1, and up to 50% faster performance compared to O2+. Using the improved efficiency of X2, all devices with it are able to consume less power while sustaining full CPU performance.
The all new GPU brings a huge jump for graphics. With the new GPU, we’ve been able to make it up to 40% faster compared to X1. With this, comes much improved graphics, allowing for much more intense graphics tasks. When compared to the GPU in X1 Pro, X2 is able to provide up to 11% better performance.
We’ve also brought the Media Engine from X1 Pro, Max, and Ultra to X2 as well. With the Media Engine, video editing and exporting capabilities are over 2x faster than before, a huge jump for video creators. Using the same 4K video test used on X1, X2 is able to export it in just two minutes.
X2 has been designed to consume less power to stay cooler longer. Even with a lower power consumption of just 12W, compared to 15W on X1, X2 is still able to deliver much more power in a more efficient package.
X2 begins arriving in Orange computers today.
