In this post I'm sharing another prompt from my book on AI for Critical Thinking.
Regardless of the subject or age group we teach, most of us would like our students to think more critically about what they are learning and how it relates to the world around them.
Critical thinking can become a part of every subject we teach, but we need to plan how we will introduce and develop it with our students.

This prompt has been designed to help you do that. You just need to edit the parts that describe your students, their topic and the amount of time you have to deliver the syllabus.
Prompt Template
Act as an expert on critical thinking.
Help me design a critical thinking syllabus that is appropriate for my students.
I have a [Number of hours] hours each week to work with them on critical thinking.
I will deliver the syllabus over the course of [Number of weeks] weeks.
Rules:
Please focus on the things that will have most impact on my students' abilities.
My students are [Describe the students, their age, the main topic you are studying with them].
Their level of English is [Level] of the Common European Framework Reference.
Here's an example prompt you can copy and paste, to see how it works.
Act as an expert on critical thinking.
Help me design a critical thinking syllabus that is appropriate for my students.
I have one hours each week to work with them on critical thinking.
I will deliver the syllabus over the course of 8 weeks.
Rules:
Please focus on the things that will have most impact on my students' abilities.
My students are studying ESL and they are between 16 and 18 years old.
Their level of English is B1 of the Common European Framework Reference.
You can use this prompt with most AI platforms and then follow it up to get the AI to create the materials for you. You will of course need to check and edit them.
Okay, so now I hope there's no excuse for not introducing an element of critical thinking to your classroom teaching.
