Denis Villanueve's DUNE Message: Baron Harkonnen Just Didn't Kill House Atreides Efficient Enough!

Yes this is the unfortunate and unavoidable message that Denis Villanueve has built into his DUNE movies that are really Dune In Name Only. The Harkonnen and Emperor Shaddam IVs Illegal action against House Atreides just wasn't effective enough and left that dangerous loose end of the real bad guy Paul which they failed to eliminate.

If your position is that Paul Atreides is the secret bad guy and meant to be some sort of warning to the reader. Then you must also believe and infact to be consistent are required to believe that Baron Harkonnen and Emperor Shaddam IV were acting for the greater good of humanity and the Imperium by acting against House Atreides. That is the only coherent moral takeaway justified by holding such an understanding of the DUNE Series. That Paul is the bad guy and forces against him both before and after his rise to power are the secret heroes.

Mind you the actual text doesn't support this position or understanding of the books. It does very much the opposite. Because in the books it is simple. If Paul dies humanity literally dies with him. That's not a bad guy. Its a tragic hero.

I really can't wait to get past these Denis Villanueve movies and hopefully the only proper adaptation Frank Herbert's DUNE AKA The Sci-Fi Channel DUNE Miniseries will be allowed to flourish on FAST platforms like Pluto TV and YouTube so that becomes people's more pleasing and actually fun exposure to DUNE.
