I feel I should underscore and state more clearly the point of my last post.
But there is no way to not take the meaning of DUNE, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune as an indictment of Fossilized and corrupted institutions.
Its the only "Political Message" outright stated in the actual text. The mechanics and structure of the plot are all about those corrupt groups trying to wrestle power back from a would be reformer who they personally wronged in blood more than once.
Look I understand saying this is all sorts of uncomfortable for a number of people. Not excluding Frank Herbert himself. But any other reading is an after the fact and imposed meaning on plot, characters and structure that are not supported by the text and its outcomes and its Universe driven necessities.
Paul Atreides isn't optional. He's literally the fulcrum of humanity's survival in the Universe he inhabits. That by its very narrative structure cannot be some sort of warning message.
