I'm going to say some obvious things.
Movie theaters are outdated and not how people order primarily engage with entertainment media anymore. For good or ill the movie theater experience is effectively dead. We need to stop judging a films value and performance by that metric.
The Masters of the Universe Movie (2026 but also 1987 as it happens) is actually performing really good in the system it was built for. Infact it is a stellar hit by this measure. Which is what both Amazon and Mattel want from it. Evergreen engagement and of course linkage to MOTU products within the Amazon ecosystem.
I fully expect a streaming sequel which might be in the form of a series. If you look closely you can actually see the bones of it in the movie itself and some of it might already exist as filmed footage.
